Music Spotlight: Erik Flowchild & Brazilian Girls

E r i k F l o w c h i l d hit us up at HipHopCanada.com about doing an interview with him. He's a young rapper from Brampton, Canada. We decided he had been building a good buzz and had some good music, so I was getting ready to assign the interview to one of our writers. (I am writing director for the site and one of my jobs is to assign interviews to the team! If you are interested in writing for us send me an e-mail). I decided to take a second listen @ the songs on his myspace page, and immediately got drawn to his swagger on the records, his charisma, and his flow. It's not the typical gun bravado - hood inspired - Canadain rap. He falls more under a creative wing of hip-hop. I liked it. The record on his page, Stepping Stone, produced by Sean Keys - a fellow young producer from Atlanta, especially caught my attention.
I decided to do the interview myself. I really wanna see what's good with him and where his head is at. Lookout for the interview coming on HipHopCanada shortly. In the meantime check out Stepping Stone and if you want to hear more from him visit www.myspace.com/flowchildmusic

Late last night I was talking to a friend of mine in Atlanta by the name of Malay (who produced the John Legend ft. 3000 - Green light and Big Boi ft. Mary J Blige - Something's got to give records) and was telling him about Erik Flowchild (above). In return he put me on to something completely different. I like stuff like that though, because I still listen to pop, reggae, dancehall, soca, dance, house, hip-hop, rap, rock, alternative and everything in between all the time. This group was a mix of it all... B r a z i l i a n G i r l s is a band from New York. Their music is a mix of electronic dance, tango, chansons, house and lounge styles. None of the members are actually from Brazil. The band has 4 members: lead singer (and only female) Sabina Sciubba, keyboard player Didi Gutman, drummer Aaron Johnston, and bass player Jesse Murphy. The band released their latest album New York City on August 5th, 2008.
If you like the record below, Good Time and want to check out some more music visit them on MySpace at www.myspace.com/braziliangirls
